Top Ten Fairy Tale Retellings
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and the Bookish which I adore and therefore chose to adopt into my weekly blog posts!
I LOVE retellings and the following are my favorite, I feel that all of these retellings can be appreciated on their own and that they also shed a new beautiful light on the classical fairy tales that they represent. I have reviewed most of these on the blog already so feel free to click for some more information!
A Tale Dark and Grimm By Adam Gidwitz
Breadcrumbs By Anne Ursu

I love retellings to! (Although I can get frustrated by them pretty easily.) You have a GREAT list though :)
ReplyDeleteSnow White and Rose Red is one I NEED to read, going to hunt for it soon!
Check out my Top Ten / Teaser Tuesday!
I haven't read any of these books! This needs to be changed ASAP because retellings are always amazing in my eyes. Since A Tale Dark and Grimm is number one on this list I might just have to start there!
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking out my list!

Wow, what a creative list!! I love Wicked; such a great retelling!
ReplyDeleteI love retellings, but I'd only read Entwined. I'll definitely be rectifying that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.

Nice list! I listed the same category. A Tale Dark and Grimm is my absolute favorite! Adam Gidwitz is brilliant! I forgot about Breadcrumbs and Wicked, both of which I loved! I have to say, I hated Entwined. It was way too slow for me, but I love all your other choices!

Entwined was a little slow for me as well and while I was reading it I couldn't tell if I hated it or loved it. So weird! I liked the premise though!
DeleteGreat list, I have all of those on my TBR pile :)
ReplyDeleteHave you read Patricia C. Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles? If you haven't you definetly should!
Now following your blog :D
My Top Ten Tuesday Picks

I LOVE Patricia C. Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles! I read them when I was much younger and I am pretty sure it is what got me so obsessed with fantasy/strong females/dragons!
DeleteI'm not sure that I've read a fairy tale retelling before. A lot of these books sound interesting, especially Breadcrumbs and Sweetly (I really like this cover too!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Breadcrumbs is very good, though it is a MG novel so it is juvenile at times. Retellings are my favorite.
DeleteYay! I'm sad I didn't think of this as a topic, because of COURSE I think I love retellings as much as you do. =) I need to read pretty much everything you listed that I haven't already. I'm sad to say I've only read Wicked, Breadcrumbs, and Fables!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if we can still be friends unless you read Juliet Marillier ASAP!!
DeleteAren't retellings the best. I have just recently started reading them. Thanks for the list. I will add them to my to-read list on Goodreads. I have read many of your reviews as well.

I haven't read any of these but I do have Sweetly on my to read list. Glad to see it's a good pick. :)
